NIEC’s Playtime! – Explore & Learn with Our Preschoolers Through Play event was featured in Lianhe Zaobao on 12 June. The event was organised as part of CBD’s efforts to inspire post-secondary students to consider a career in early childhood education. The article highlighted quotes from our lecturer, students, secondary school participants, and partners — reflecting the strong collaboration and meaningful impact of the event.

This year’s event was held in collaboration with the Singapore Discovery Centre and drew over 120 Secondary 4 and 5 students, along with nearly 100 K1 and K2 preschoolers from The Schoolhouse by Busy Bees (Katong). Themed around SG60, the event gave students a firsthand look into the meaningful and rewarding work of early childhood educators. NIEC lecturers and students from NIEC (ITE), NIEC (NP), and NIEC (TP) thoughtfully designed a series of immersive, hands-on activities — including traditional snack-making, storytelling, and childhood games — that encouraged active engagement between the students and preschoolers.

The preschoolers enjoyed an enriching learning experience beyond the classroom, while the secondary school students had the opportunity to explore the skills and dedication involved in the profession. A sharing session was also held, offering students valuable insights into NIEC’s course offerings and how to apply through the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE).
